The area of my subject I most enjoy teaching: Shakespeare – especially The Tempest

Two top facts about me: 

  1. I always carry a book in my bag to read in case the opportunity ever comes up on a tube, bus, or spare moment.
  2. Coffee is one of my main food groups. There are always at least two empty mugs on my desk, on top of my cupboard, even in a desk draw.

If I wasn’t a teacher I would be:  A librarian or journalist. 

What I am most looking forward to this year at the Archer Academy: Engaging in discussion and debates with you about all of the stories, books, poems and ideas you encounter along with giving me recommendations of what I should be reading.

My message to our new Year 7s: I would encourage you to take every opportunity that is offered to you, the staff are just as excited to teach you as you are to learn. If you show us your energy, we will match your enthusiasm (and remember to pack your bag the night before).


My job at the Archer Academy: Head of SEND & Inclusion and English teacher

The area of my subject I most enjoy teaching: Poetry because I think it allows for the most freedom of thought and interpretation.

Two top facts about me:

If I wasn’t a teacher I would be: a gardener

What I am most looking forward to this year at the Archer Academy: teaching Year 11 for the first time and helping them prepare for their GCSEs.

My message to our new Year 7s: starting at secondary school can be a scary time for anyone. Remember – others might feel a bit scared, too!

My job at the Archer Academy: Head of Lower School and English Teacher

What I am most looking forward to this year at the Archer Academy: I hope this year we can build on our student leadership team and provide more opportunities for the student body to contribute to school life at Archer as well as developing some future leaders. I hope to see some of you applying for the positions of student council representative. 

The area of my subject I most enjoy teaching: I most enjoy reading new books as a whole class. I especially enjoy reading novels and plays with lots of twists and turns to make them exciting.

An interesting fact about me: I speak Spanish fluently and have also taught Spanish in the past. I studied Spanish and English Literature at University and was lucky enough to spend some time living in Mexico and Spain.

My top hobby: I like to keep fit and try to go jogging every week, I find that it helps to keep me healthy and is a great stress buster.

My message to our new Year 7s: I am thrilled to welcome you to the Archer Academy and can’t wait to meet you all very soon. I am excited to welcome you to our Lower School campus and do all things Phantom Tollbooth. I am very much looking forward to showing you all of the activities that we have on offer; from cookery lessons to a climbing wall, there will be something for you to get involved with!

If I wasn’t a teacher I would be:  A doll’s house maker 

What I am most looking forward to this year at the Archer Academy: I am forever and ever wowed by the imagination of our pupils.  I can’t wait to be inspired!!!

My message to our new Year 7s: September and the start of school is always my favourite time of year.  It’s the chance to craft our destinies and make the most of the beautiful view.  I can’t wait to meet you all and share the journey.

My job at the Archer Academy: English Teacher

The area of my subject I most enjoy teaching: There are too many to choose! But I would have to say… I love stories. I am fascinated by how stories create feelings of tension, excitement, surprise and joy in us readers. I love to read students’ stories as they tend to be very creative and original – young people are often full of magical ideas! That said, I also like to include some drama, games, challenges and speaking activities in my lessons.  

Two top facts about me: 

  1. I used to be a ski instructor in Canada.
  1. I once played football against popular UK rapper, Dave.

If I wasn’t a teacher I would be: a footballer or a gardener.

What I am most looking forward to this year at the Archer Academy:  I am really looking forward to meeting our new Year 7s! I have no doubt it is going to be a brilliant year. Whether you are into drama, dance, sport, music, art or computing – The Archer Academy has something for you.

My message to our new Year 7s: Look out for our school dog, Rufus – he’s very friendly and loves meeting new people. Don’t be scared to ask for help. Enjoy your well-deserved Summer holiday! We can’t wait to welcome you in September and for you become part of our wonderful

The area of my subject I most enjoy teaching:  The wonderful variety of texts we read – and what they can teach us!

Two top facts about me:  

  1. I own 47 cookbooks.
  2. I have two wonderful dogs and two gorgeous cats, and approximately 1000 photos of each of them!

If I wasn’t a teacher I would be:  A recipe development chef  

What I am most looking forward to this year at the Archer Academy: All of the wonderful experiences which come with life at Archer. There are so many new adventures to have!
